The Time Machine

He stopped the car.

He didn’t know where he was. It wasn’t important. Some road between nowheres.

All he knew was that in that moment. He didn’t want to be here anymore.

He wanted to go back. But not back to where he came from.

Time travel – is it possible?

It is.

But it’s dangerous.

If you go back in time. Be careful.

You might not like what you find. Or maybe worse – you will.

The first rule of time travel.

You can only visit the past.

The second rule of time travel.

You cannot change the past.

The third rule of time travel.

You might not find a way back to the present.

He decided he would do it again. He didn’t want to. But he couldn’t help himself.

He opened the glovebox. He reached for the device. Battered and old with dust.

He opened the messages. He scrolled into the past. And he started the time machine.

A voice spoke.

“Hi. How are you? Sorry for the delay. I was a bit busy this morning. With the event coming up there were a lot of meetings. So about Chile. Honestly, that trip was one of the best of my life and–”

He stopped the message.

And snapped back to reality – to the present.

That was a close one, he thought.
